Saying good night one last time, The Waltons: The Complete Ninth Season comes to DVD from Warner Home Video in April. The ninth and final season of the family classic features the Walton boys returning home after the end of World War II. Recognized by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences as one of the best series of all time, the 13-time Emmy-winning Waltons aired on CBS from 1972-1981, following John and Olivia Walton (Ralph Waite and Michael Learned) and their seven children along with Grandpa and Grandma (Will Geer and Ellen Corby) as they experienced the Depression and the war while living daily life on Walton’s Mountain. “The first eight seasons of The Waltons were very well received by consumers, and we anticipate that fans will want to complete their library with the final volume,” says Rosemary Markson, WHV VP of TV and special interest marketing. “Given the difficult climate we are currently facing, we think the messages of love, hope and perseverance this series conveyed throughout its run will resonate very strongly with the public now.” The release will be backed by a targeted national media and publicity campaign. —C.S.
