New Moon screenings coming to Blockbuster

NOV. 3 | PHYSICAL: Looks like Blockbuster is looking for some new blood from the Twilight sequel.

The original Twilight sold 5.2 million DVD and Blu-ray discs in its first week on shelves.
The largest U.S. movie-rental chain will have advance screenings of Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon at stores in 20 of its metropolitan markets the night of Nov. 19, just before the midnight theatrical debut of the movie.
Blockbuster will host screening ticket giveaway events on Nov. 13—Friday the 13th—that will include trivia contests, licensed New Moon merchandise and other prizes, the company said.
Participating stores will be in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, among other markets.
Blockbuster was among the many retailers that hosted midnight parties when the original Twilight was released on DVD in March. Twilight, which grossed almost $400 million in global box-office sales after its November 2008 theatrical release, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com, sold 5.2 million DVD and Blu-ray Disc units in its first week on shelves. The movie is still going strong, reclaiming the top position in video-on-demand rentals last month.
