By Susanne Ault -- Video Business,08/03/2007

Spider-Man 3 arrives on DVD and Blu-ray in six configurations.

AUG. 3 | Spider-Man 3 will swing onto home video in six different ways Oct. 30, including two Blu-ray Disc sets.

Garnering $888 million worldwide in theaters, Spider-Man 3 represents Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s heftiest Blu-ray release to date. It will be offered as a two-disc edition ($49.95) and as part of a Spider-Man High Definition Trilogy compilation package ($98.95). The Trilogy will contain all three installments of the Spider-Man franchise—the debut of the first two films on the Blu-ray format.

The same day, Spider-Man 3 will bow on standard-definition DVD as a single disc ($28.97), a two-disc special edition ($36.95) and in the Trilogy compilation ($38.96).

Also, Sony will sell Spider-Man 3 for the PlayStation Portable for $28.97.

The prebook date for all SKUs is Sept. 27.

Spider-Man 3 holds the theatrical record for achieving the largest three-day box-office total in history ($151 million) and the blue ribbon for top worldwide opening ($231 million).

Both Blu-ray and standard-def versions are packed with extras, including nearly a dozen featurettes and various commentaries from stars Tobey Maquire and Kirsten Dunst, director Sam Raimi and other cast and crew members.

I hope that's not the final package art. That particular poster was probably the least of all the promotional posters; and if you take a look at the black Spidey in the reflection, his head is bent around impossibly over his shoulder. They really fudged the image trying to display the full face mask, and ended up mixing Spider-man and the Exorcist.
