CEA members showcase greenest products in new project

By Wendy Wilson -- Video Business, 12/17/2008

Dec. 17 | The Consumer Electronics Assn. has entered into a new partnership to demonstrate how member companies’ products can enable homeowners to live more greenly.

Through Green Life Smart Life, a project designed to showcase the most recent advances in environmentally-sound building, CEA products will be featured to provide examples of eco-friendly custom electronics.

CEA will serve as the primary technology sponsor for the Green Life Smart Life project, a 4,350-foot home on the coast of Rhode Island. The house will incorporate new technologies to provide automated control of lighting, HVAC and security. Efficient energy consumption is one of the primary goals for the Green Life Smart Life home, but it also is planned as an example of the utilization of reusable resources and environmentally-sensitive landscaping.

NuVo Technologies, a Kentucky-based supplier of multi-room audio systems, is the first CEA member company to be selected for inclusion in the Green Life Smart Life home. NuVo’s Essentia E6G, the first multi-room system to earn Energy Star certification, will be used in the project.

A CEA spokeswoman emphasized that Green Life Smart Life is still at its early stages, encouraging member companies to join the project while there are still opportunities to do so.
