Vivid to release on both high-def formats

First adult title on both HD DVD, Blu-ray due out March 28

JAN. 19 | Vivid Entertainment will release the first adult title on both HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc on March 28. Debbie Does Dallas … Again will be priced at $39.95 on both formats.

Rumors at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month suggested that adult product was not going to be able to release titles on Blu-ray.

“We have had many challenges, but have secured both authoring and replication for Blu-ray,” said co-chairman of Vivid Entertainment Steven Hirsch.

Supplemental materials for Dallas have not yet been officially announced, but a Vivid spokesperson confirmed that the high-definition releases of the latest installment in the popular series will contain options for multiple camera angles.

The first high-def adult title was Wicked Pictures' HD DVD title Camp Cuddly Pines Power Tool Massacre, which was released on Dec. 22.

Digital Playground will issue a quartet of HD DVD titles between now and the first week in February, including Island Fever 3, Island Fever 4, Teen America and the studio’s biggest hit to date, Pirates.
