JUNE 6 | Electronics maker Pioneer Corp. said Tuesday it will push back the release of its first Blu-ray players to September and drop the price to $1,500.
Players were initially slated to launch in June and sell for $1,800, but the company decided to hold off to spend more time testing players and working on interoperability, said Andy Parsons, Pioneer senior VP.
“We wanted to make sure everything works well with various titles being developed with various studios,” Parsons said.
The news was somewhat expected; Parsons told VB in late March that a delay was possible (VB, 3-29).
