Eliza Gallo -- Video Business, 7/8/2005

JULY 8 | The VSDA has secured funnyman Jerry Lewis to deliver the keynote speech at the Home Entertainment 2005 conference.

During his July 26 address, the iconic comedian will talk about the experience of transferring his work to DVD.

Several other luminaries will feature in the convention. Vin Diesel will be presented the Male Star of the Year Award at the July 27 awards show. The actor's movies are a fixture on video store shelves, said VSDA president Bo Andersen.

Patrick Swayze will be given the Independent Career Achievement Award for his work in movies ranging from Dirty Dancing to Donnie Darko.

The last honoree at the awards ceremony will be filmmaker Penelope Spheeris, who will receive the organization's first Groundbreaker Award. Spheeris' accomplishments include directing Wayne's World and the three The Decline of Western Civilization rockumentaries.
