Whedon confirms Dr. Horrible 2

September 24, 2009 | Link This | Email this | Comments (0)

During a conference call for season 2 of his new series Dollhouse last week, Joss Whedon confirmed that a sequel is in the works to web megahit Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, according to TV Guide:

The main question, he says, is whether he does it “on a shoe string again” or goes bigger budget and “invites other people into the process.” Either way, he promises that it won’t affect the storyline.

The three-part musical starring Emmy host Neil Patrick Harris went out on the web for free last summer, then went to iTunes and then DVD in two separate releases, both of which became top sellers on Amazon.com.

But the two are taking the partnership a step further adding bonus features, and not the same standard DVD ones that Apple unveiled with iTunes Extras last week. Rather than offer standard DVD type extras, which consumers will already have on the disc they bought, the companies are promising "extra network-connected feat...Read More

NBC, others debut fall previews on paid video sites, snubbing Hulu, YouTube

September 14, 2009 | Link This | Email this | Comments (0)

After giving Facebook users a first look at the pilot for its new show Community, NBC is now offering it and first episodes of some other fall shows free through iTunes, PlayStation Video and Amazon Video on Demand before its TV debut later this week. You still won't find those preview episodes at Hulu.com, partly owned by NBC, or YouTube or other ad-supported free streaming sites (though they have plenty of promos, behind-the-scenes clips and interviews with the Community cast.) CW is using a similar strategy for Vampire Diaries, with the first episode available through the ...Read More
