Clifford kid-friendly carrying case

May 22, 2007 | Link This | Email this | Comments (0)

Now here's an innovative idea for kids DVDs. Make them easy for kids to tote around.

Lionsgate's latest three Clifford packages have a handle cut into the top so kids can carry them just like a little briefcase. Ingenious! Wish I had thought of that. I can see Wal-Mart, Target, Toys 'R' Us jumping all over these.

Let's face it, the actual DVD inside is the same size as a CD and CD jewel cases are square. So, you might as well use the extra few inches on the top of a DVD box for something.

Wild Hogs DVD and Blu-ray

May 21, 2007 | Link This | Email this | Comments (0)

Disney's surprise middle-age guys on Harleys hit, Wild Hogs, grossed $160 million at the box office. Surprisingly, Buena Vista isn't holding it for the fourth quarter. Instead riding it out on Aug. 14 (prebook July 3) on DVD ($29.99) and Blu-ray (not sure of the price. Stay tuned for more. $34.99)

The biggest news for the release is a sweepstakes insert packaged inside the DVD telling purchasers how they can have a chance to win a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Do they have to be over 40?

Wild Hogs stars Tim Allen, John Travolta, William H. Macy, ...Read More

Fracture DVD

May 21, 2007 | Link This | Email this | Comments (0)

New Line's Fracture should have done better than the $26.7 million it brought in in theaters. From the trailers, it looked like a newer version of 1996' Primal Fear, which launched Ed Norton's career, and that movie grossed $56 million 11 years ago.

But that just means Fracture is poised to break out on DVD ($28.98) when it bows on Aug. 14 (prebook July 3). Between gas prices and the hiked up cost of theater tickets, it seems like moviegoers are saving their box-office money for the really big movies -- hench Spider-Man 3's record breaking $14...Read More

May 17, 2007 | Link This | Email this | Comments (0)

Now here's a title that should look spectacular on high-def. If you didn't see the movie in the theaters -- if you're one of the few who didn't help it gross $208 million -- check out the trailer. And Warner has cooked up some extra special extras for the HD DVD version.

300 will be released on all three formats on July 31 (prebook June 19) priced at $28.98 for the single-disc standard-def (available in fullscreen or widescreen versions), $34.99 for the two-disc standard-def special edition, $39.99 for the HD DVD combo (DVD on one side, HD DVD on the other) and $34.99 on Blu-ray.
