24: Exile DVD
August 11, 2008

With the long hiatus between 24 seasons -- the season six finale aired May, 21, 2007, according to TV.com, and season seven isn't due until January -- an in-between-season-six-and-season-seven TV movie, 24: Exile, will air on FOX on Nov. 23 and bow on DVD Nov. 25.

Fox's disc, priced at $26.98, will contain an extended "Creator's Cut" of the movie, offering 10 minutes not shown on TV (too sexy? too bloody?).

Extras are: cast and crew commentary, an on-location documentary, a "Children of War" featurette, a "24: Season 6 in Four Minutes" recap featurette and an exclusive peek at season seven, including the first 16 minutes of the premiere (and if past season premieres are anything to go by, those should be 16 action-packed minutes).

Prebook is Oct. 29.

Now, FOX did have season seven scheduled to air this past January (Variety's Cynthia Littleton blogged on the network's promo back in October), but the writer's strike derailed that. So, my theory -- and it's just a theory, I could be wrong -- is that to start brewing some 24 fever because of the loooooooooooong gap, the network is airing the originally planned two-hour premiere Littleton talked about as a TV movie, then will start season seven in January with what would have been episode two.

Either way, it'll be nice to have 24 back, and if MGM's Stargate TV movies are anything to go by (Stargate: Continuum topped the Blu-ray chart last week, ahead of fellow debuting title Doomsday), the 24: Exile DVD should do nicely too.
