Scooby-Doo plays into DVD game
July 10, 2008

Zoinks! Shaggy and Scooby-Doo are getting into the DVD game business on Nov. 11 when Warner releases the franchise’s first interactive DVD game (prebook Oct. 7; $19.98) featuring the popular cartoon characters.

Warner is promoting its Scooby-Doo DVD game as another revenue opportunity for the popular franchise as well as an alternative to console videogames. This foray into gaming follows the increasing popularity of videogames, which is expected to reach $57 billion in revenue by 2009.

The Scooby-Doo! Interactive DVD Game: Funland of Freaky Frights, which can be played on a standard DVD player using the set-top’s remote control, is designed as family entertainment and can be played by up to four players.

Set in a Funland theme park, the game follows the Mystery Inc. gang as they attempt to solve strange events by matching images, identifying sounds and selecting the right paths for investigation.
