The Hills Have Eyes 2 DVD
May 15, 2007
Fox is delivering Wes Craven's horror sequel The Hills Have Eyes 2 on July 17 (prebook June 20) in an unrated edition that the press materials describes as "gruesome" and "gut-wrenching." And we thought it would be sweet.
But the theatrical version is also being released -- "for the faint of heart," according to the press release -- and each will be priced at $29.98.
Horrors generally have long legs on disc, especially ones that have
Wes Craven connected to them (he's billed as writer and producer on this one). So even though
Hills 2 topped out at
$20.6 million in theaters, it's sure to be a big hit come Halloween.
That is if it can overcome a rather smelly reputation. It scored a dismal 13% on Rotten Tomatoes
Critics Tomatometer.
Still, there's always that unrated edition.
And Fox has pilled on the extras -- on the unrated edition. It comes with an alternate ending, deleted scenes, a making-of featurette, "Fox Movie Channel Presents: Life After Film School With Wes Craven," "Mutant Attacks" and "Birth of a Graphic Novel" featurettes and a gag reel.
The poor theatrical version has only the making-of featurette.
