Evan Almighty DVD and HD DVD
August 14, 2007

Universal's follow-up to the $242.6 million-grossing Bruce Almighty, Evan Almighty scored only $96 million in theaters (and the latter reportedly had a budget of $175 million, compared to Bruce's $81 million). But $96 million isn't anything to sneeze at, and the comedy is sure to prove divine when it comes to DVD and HD DVD/DVD Combo on Oct. 9 (prebook Sept. 4).

The DVD ($29.98) offers up enough extras to fill Noah's ark:

• Deleted Scenes
• Outtakes
• The Ark-itects of Noah's Ark
• Becoming Noah
• Steve Carell Unscripted (this should be good)
• Animals on Set Two by Two
• Animal Roundup Game
• The Almighty Green Set
• It's Easy Being Green
• Acts of Random Kindness
• A Flood of Visual Effects
• Casting Call: Serengeti
• The Almighty Forest

And the HD DVD ($39.98) has all that plus:

• Picture-in-Picture - Viewers will get a truly "inside" look at the making of the movie through BTS footage and interviews with cast and crew.
• Ark Building for Dummies - 3D pop up graphics give a step-by-step guide to ark building for the viewers at home.
• Animal Wrangler - In sync wtih the movie, graphics give factual information on each type of animal.
• Get on Board

Variety didn't give the movie a great review. In fact, critics on Rotten Tomatoes gave it 24%, with users at 51%.

Still Evan Almighty stars The Office's Steve Carell and features Jonah Hill, whose Superbad is getting a lot of buzz for its Aug. 17 theatrical release.
