State of Play DVD, Blu-ray

Most movies with Russell Crowe on the DVD box art don't need much else to attract an audience. But State of Play also has Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren, Robin Wright Penn and Jason Bateman in its cast list.
Universal's movie, which grossed $36.8 million in theaters, will be released on DVD ($29.98) and Blu-ray ($39.98) on Sept. 1 (prebook July 14).
The extras list on the DVD is kinda thin, just deleted scenes and a making-of featurette.
Blu-ray will have the same, plus U Control features on picture-in-picture and Washington D.C. locations, as well as BD Live accessibility.
Variety called the movie an "efficient, admirably coherent thriller."
