Sopranos in high-def
November 14, 2006
They were on, then off, and now The Sopranos are on for high-def again. HBO, through distributor Warner, will release The Sopranos: Season 6, Part 1 on both HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc on Dec. 19 (prebook Dec. 5) priced at $129.95 for either format.
Previously, the set was
due to bow on HD DVD on Nov. 7 and on Blu-ray sometime next year. (That HD DVD date would have made this the first TV series on high-def, but as it was postponed,
Warner's Smallville will now be the one making history on Nov. 28.)
The high-def
Sopranos will have the same four commentaries as the standard-def disc (which came out on Nov. 7) but is missing the making-of the videogame featurette. Do we care?
HBO promises that future titles also will debut in high-def. So look for another big set of
Six Feet Under. Won't
Rome and
Carnivale look good that crisp?
