Street Kings DVD, Blu-ray PLUS L.A. Confidential
June 25, 2008
The latest Keanu Reeves flick, Street Kings, will bow on DVD and Blu-ray on Aug. 19 (prebook July 23). It will be released on standard-def in single-disc ($29.98) and two-disc ($34.98) versions, with digital copy available on the two-disc and Blu-ray ($39.98) sets.
The movie, which grossed $26 million, follows a disillusioned cop (Reeves) as he tries to solve the murder of his former partner. Forest Whitaker also stars, playing Reeves' boss and mentor. Street Kings is based on a story by James Ellroy, who also brought us the novels on which L.A. Confidential and The Black Dahlia, among others, are based.
As well as the digital copy, Fox's two-disc and Blu-ray editions will contain commentary by director David Ayer, 15 deleted scenes, 10 alternate scenes, 10 vignettes, the featurette "Street Rules: Rolling With David Ayer and Jaime FitzSimons" and the HBO First Look making-of.
Incidentally, Warner is releasing L.A. Confidential as a new two-disc special edition and on Blu-ray on Sept. 23 (prebook Aug. 19) priced at $20.97 and $28.99, respectively. Bonuses include commentary, featurettes, music-only track and TV pilot.
Maybe an Ellroy shelf is in order.
