Fracture DVD
May 21, 2007
New Line's Fracture should have done better than the $26.7 million it brought in in theaters. From the trailers, it looked like a newer version of 1996' Primal Fear, which launched Ed Norton's career, and that movie grossed $56 million 11 years ago.
But that just means
Fracture is poised to break out on DVD ($28.98) when it bows on Aug. 14 (prebook July 3). Between gas prices and the hiked up cost of theater tickets, it seems like moviegoers are saving their box-office money for the really big movies -- hench
Spider-Man 3's
record breaking $148 million opening weekend and
Shrek the Third's
record-breaking (for an animated movie) $122 million opening weekend, just wait til the third
Pirates of the Caribbean sails out on Friday.
Yet,
Fracture has a lot going for it. Anthony Hopkins as a potential creep just about says it all. But then you've also got Ryan Gosling, who has been wowing audiences with lead roles in a number of smaller movies.
Rotten Tomatoes
Critics Tomatometer has
Fracture at a 71% rating. So a lot people could be waiting to check out this thriller on the small screen.
Unfortunately, the DVD itself doesn't have much more to offer than the movie, just deleted scenes and a couple alternate endings. But maybe that's all curious shoppers will need.
