Pride DVD
April 30, 2007
Last year's buzz around Terrence Howard didn't seem to help
Lionsgate's
Pride swim to gold in theaters. It opened on more than 1,500 screens and grossed a little more than $7 million.
But this inspirational, taken from real life movie about a school teacher who founded an African-American swim team in a rough neighborhood in Philadelphia is the kind of stuff DVD is made for.
Lionsgate is releasing
Pride on DVD on June 26 (prebook May 30) priced at $28.98. It will carry a commentary by director Sunu Gonera, deleted/extended scenes and music montages. Shame there isn't a featurette on the original events that inspired the movie.
Bernie Mac also stars, and he's usually a good draw. (Get the
cast list on IMDb.)
