The Holiday, Turistas, Super Bowl
January 29, 2007
I didn't get around to The Holiday in theaters, but it made a perfectly respectable $62 million at the box office and is destined to fill many a romantic night on DVD. Sony's releasing the film on March 20 (prebook Feb. 15) on DVD ($28.95) and Blu-ray ($38.96) -- seriously, do we really need to see Kate Winslet fall for Jack Black in high-def? Of course the close-ups of Jude Law are probably quite rewarding. I understand special features are still being worked out but potentially include a commentary with director Nancy Meyers and a behind-the-scenes featurette.
Fox is also going high-def for
Turistas, and as has become the norm for the horror films, the movie will be coming to disc in its theatrical version along with an unrated "too horrific to show in theaters" version in the same package. The movie bows on DVD on March 27 (prebook Feb. 28) priced at $29.98 and on Blu-ray on April 17 (prebook March 21) priced at $39.98. Supplements on the DVD are an audio commentary, an alternate ending, 10 deleted scenes, two featurettes and a surveillance camera Easter egg.
But before those comes the
NFL Super Bowl XLI Champions DVD on Feb. 27 (prebook Feb. 6), with footage from throughout the season.
Warner priced the disc at $24.98 and added interviews and a behind-the-scenes look at the Super Bowl as extras. Sorry, no high-def version -- yet.
