Shoot Em Up DVD, Blu-ray, HD DVD

New Line is again staggering its high-def release, with Shoot 'Em Up bowing day and date on DVD and Blu-ray then on HD DVD later because HD has no regional coding.

The actioner, which judging from its trailer lives up to its name (and is followed on the box art), only made $12.6 million in theaters, despite starring popular Brit Clive Owen, Monica Bellucci and Paul Giamatti (click for the full list on IMDb). It got 66% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, though, and 79% from users, so it's on track to have a better life on DVD. Variety agreed.

But New Line is wisely keeping the title out of the crowded fourth quarter, releasing it on Jan. 1 (prebook Nov. 27) priced at $27.98 on DVD and $35.99 for Blu-ray and the future HD DVD.

Plus, New Line is boosting the cache of the movie on disc with the following extras:

·        “Ballet of Bullets – Making Shoot ‘Em Up” documentary
