MGM had said it was producing a sequel to the 1983 classic WarGames (love this movie), and now WarGames: The Dead Code has a street date: July 29 (prebook July 2).
The DVD premiere will bow alongside a WarGames: 25th Anniversary Edition DVD. Dead Code will be priced at $26.98, while the Anniversary Edition will be $14.98.
Dead Code stars Matt Lanter (from Heroes and Commander in Chief) and Colm Feore (who last played Henry Taylor in 24).
The story is similar to the original but updated for our times. A young computer hacker (Lanter) once again hacks a government computer to play a simulation game, but this time, instead of war and missiles, the game is designed to appeal to terrorists. You fill in the rest.
Fox distributes MGM product.
