Toot & Puddle, Open Season
November 27, 2006
Warner’s going all out with promotions for a new kids title, with TV ads, screenings, book readings, education outreach programs and cross-promotions with My Gym—and it’s all for a couple of pigs. Toot & Puddle might not be as well-known as, say, Barney, but Warner’s giving the first DVD from the National Geographic Kids franchise a big send-off. Toot & Puddle: I’ll Be Home For Christmas bows in stores on Dec. 5 (order now) priced at $19.98. The hour-long special will air commercial-free on Nickelodeon preschool network NOGGIN on Dec. 13. The friendly little pigs will even be on milk cartons.

Meanwhile, Sony will debut a better-known animation on Jan. 30 (prebook Dec. 21). The $83.5 million-grossing Open Season will be released on DVD, PSP ($28.95 each) and Blu-ray ($38.95). The action adventure with forest animals taking back their habitat from hunters will come with the new animated short “Boog and Elliot’s Midnight Bun Run,” as well as the game “Wheel of Fortune: Forest Edition” and DVD-ROM content. There’s even a preview for Sony’s next animated feature, Surf’s Up. Now that’s promotions we’re used to.
