The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning
November 13, 2006

It always makes my day when I open my mail and discover someone has sent me their heart -- quite literally. I just got a lovely little specimen in a clear plastic container to promote New Line's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. And it has the words, "This winter, your heart belongs to Leatherface" on it. Now that's a nice thought.

I'll admit, I'm not one to rush out to theaters to see the latest slasher film, so I missed Beginning on the big screen. But it raked up $38 million in green at the box office and will no doubt score high at retail.

The movie comes to disc on Jan. 16 (prebook Dec. 12) priced at $28.98 for either the theatrical R-rated or unrated version. The press materials call the bonus features "bone-chilling" -- of course they would. Here's the breakdown:

Deleted/extended scenes with or without commentary
Commentary with the director and producers
Behind-the-scenes documentary called "Down to the Bone" -- creepy

Now, where's the full franchise boxed set?
