Death Proof, Planet Terror DVD
August 1, 2007
Weinstein is separating the two Grindhouse movies for DVD, and they'll come out on different days and in two-disc unrated and extended versions.
Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof will come out first on Sept. 18 (prebook Aug. 7), with Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror bowing Oct. 16 (prebook Sept. 4). Each will be priced at $29.95.
Death Proof, starring Kurt Russell as a deranged stuntman turned psycho serial killer, will be 30 minutes longer than the theatrical version, including the missing reel of Ferlito's lap dance and a B&W segment that's a prelude to Russell's character. Plus there will be an international poster gallery and five featurettes: "Finding Quentin's Gals," "The Guys of Death Proof," "Kurt Russell as Stuntman Mike," "Introducing Zoe Bell" and "Quentin's Greatest Collaborator: Editor Sally Menke."
Zombie horror Planet Terror, starring Rose McGowan and Freddy Rodriguez, will include the missing reel as well as commentary from Rodriguez, deleted scenes and featurette "The Badass Babes of Planet Terror."
Weinstein discs are distributed through Genius.
