The Return of Val Kilmer
January 18, 2008
In one of the few examples of available fresh TV content, Val Kilmer-starring CBS miniseries Comanche Moon: The Second Chapter in the Lonesome Dove Saga will street on two-disc DVD on Feb. 26 (pre-order Jan. 24).
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will distribute Comanche Moon, priced at $29.95.
This follow-up to the popular 1989 Lonesome Dove mini also performed well with TV audiences, attracting nearly 16 million viewers during its first installment on Sunday, Jan. 7. For the night, Comanche Moon was the number one primetime program in total viewers in its 9 p.m. time slot.
Because of the Writers Guild of America strike shuttering most TV production, such hit competing Sunday shows as Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters were in repeats, likely helping boost tune-in for Comanche Moon.
The miniseries, based on the novel Comanche Moon by Lonesome Dove author Larry McMurtry, also stars Rachel Griffiths. It follows Texas Rangers battling to protect their land from Comanche Indians who are defending to preserve their way of life.
