Atonement DVD and HD DVD
February 25, 2008

Universal has set Atonement for release on March 18 (order now) on DVD and HD DVD/DVD Combo. No Blu-ray yet, but that will no doubt come down the road.

Extras on both versions are deleted scenes, commentary and two featurettes (one making-of and one about the transition from novel to movie).

The Oscar-winner film starring Keira Knightley and James McAvoy was a critical darling (and rightly so, it's really great) and grossed $45 million in theaters. It won an Oscar for music, but was nominated for seven, including best picture and best supporting actress.

It will be priced at $29.98 on standard-def and $39.98 for the HD DVD combo.

Saw this movie, and have to agree that it's fabulous. Although it never was the type of movie that wins a "Best Pic" Oscar it's the sort of flick that doesn't leave you feeling that there should've been more to come (see "No Country" for that). Great thing about it too is that it doesn't stray away from the book ending just to please some focus group drawn from the soap opera brigade (see "Hannibal" for that).
