Iron Man DVD, Blu-ray
August 8, 2008
It had been rumored, but
Paramount has now officially announced Sept. 30 as the street date for the $315 million-grossing
Iron Man. (Snazzy box, eh?)
The sci-fi hit will be released in "Ultimate Edition" two-disc sets on DVD and Blu-ray, both priced at $39.99, plus a standard-def single-disc, priced at $29.99.
Special features on the two-disc sets: deleted scenes; "I Am Iron Man" series of featurettes; "The Invincible Iron Man" series of featurettes; a featurette on the visual effects; Robert Downey Jr.'s screen test; a scene rehearsal with the actors; image galleries; and something from The Onion ("Wildly Popular Iron Man Trailer to be Adapted Into Full Length Film"), priceless.
In the Blu-ray version, all those are in high-def. Also, Blu-ray offers a "Hall of Armor" feature, in which fans can go into Tony Stark's database and zoom in and activate 3D schematics on any of the three Iron Man suits or Iron Monger. Plus, BD Live Iron Man IQ.
The standard-def single-disc just offers deleted scenes.
Paramount has signed on a bunch of promotional partners, including Southwest Airlines and Perdue.
