Half-Blood Prince delay
August 15, 2008

Warner has shifted Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, scheduled for theatrical release in November, to next July, which is sure to disappoint fans who are already drooling over the trailer (I know I have been).

Warner says it made the move to pump up its slate summer tentpoles next year, which it says is relatively light right now.

No news on whether Warner will also move the release of the Harry Potter Years 1-5 DVD and Blu-ray sets, which, coming out Nov. 11, had been timed to the theatrical release of Half-Blood Prince, but maybe the studio will keep the date to keep Potter fans happy until July.

Either way, Half-Blood Prince will not be coming to home video next fourth quarter instead of next spring/summer.
