Elvis DVD collections

It has been 30 years since Elvis died, and Warner and Paramount and joining up again (they did the same for the 100th anniversary of John Wayne's death earlier this year) to promote new sets of Elvis' movies, all streeting Aug. 7 (prebook July 3 for Warner's titles and June 26 for Paramount's).
Warner is bowing
Deluxe Editions of
Viva Las Vegas and
Jailhouse Rock ($19.97 each) and two-disc special editions of
Elvis: That's the Way It Is and
This is Elvis ($20.97 each), which is also making its DVD debut. Plus the studio is offering up
Elvis: The Hollywood Collection ($49.92), packaging together
Charro;
Girl Happy;
Kissin' Cousins;
Stay Away, Joe;
Tickle Me and
Live a Little, Love a Little ($12.97 individually).
But Paramount gets the prize for going the extra mile with the
Lights! Action! Elvis! Collection ($76.99) in a case covered with -- what else? -- blue suede (check out the picture). The box will contain
King Creole;
G.I. Blues;
Blue Hawaii;
Roustabout;
Girls! Girls! Girls!;
Fun In Acapulco (co-starring Ursula Andress);
Paradise, Hawaiian Style and
Easy Come, Easy Go ($12.99 individually).
Warner will stage two Elvis Music and Movies nights at Graceland during Elvis Week 2007, Aug. 11-18 in Memphis. Warner will be screening outdoors
Viva Las Vegas and
Elvis: That's the Way It Is.
Music journalist Steve Pond recorded commentaries for Warner's
Deluxe Editions.
This Is Elvis is the first home video release of the uncensored 1981 theatrical version, according to Warner, and it will also carry the 1983 unrated expanded version that has 40 additional minutes.
Elvis: That's the Way It Is has 12 outtakes.
