John Adams DVD

Last week I told you about Acorn's The Adams Chronicles mini-series coming to disc on May 13. Now HBO has scheduled its John Adams mini-series for June 10 (prebook May 6).
Starring Paul Giamatti as the second U.S. President and Laura Linney as his wife, John Adams will be released in a three-disc set priced at $59.99. Pricey you say? Well, it is a seven-part series, so it'll keep viewers in front of the screen for a while.
The series is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by David McCullough and exec produced by two of the Band of Brothers gang: Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman. Tom Hooper directed, and he also did Elizabeth I, so he knows a thing or two about period dramas.
Extras on the discs will be a documentary about the writing of the book, a making-of featurette on the mini-series and an on-screen historical guide.
HBO is distributed by Warner.
