Blade: House of Chthon DVD
June 18, 2007

A TV show about Blade was a good idea, and the show wasn't too bad -- I watched a few while ironing shirts (I have to multi-task). The episodes got pretty high scores on TV.com. But ratings weren't what Spike had hoped, I guess, and the show was canceled.

On June 18, New Line begins to bring the series to DVD. I say begins because only the pilot has been announced so far.

Blade: House of Chthon -- an extended, feature-length, unrated version of the season premiere -- will bow on Sept. 18 (prebook Aug. 14) priced at $19.97.

Special features include the "Turning Blade" doc and two commentaries (one with director Peter O'Fallon and the other with writers David Goyer of the movies fames and Geoff Johns).

Turning the pilot into basically a DVD premiere installment of the franchise is an interesting move from New Line. We'll see if it pans out and what the next move will be. I'll let you know when I know.
