Mad Men promotions
July 2, 2008
Lionsgate has the promotional wheels turning for the debut DVD set of the AMC series Mad Men.
The acclaimed show, which bowed on DVD yesterday, is about the life of ad men in the '60s, the golden age of advertising (although the ad men are hardly golden).
To promote the season-one DVD release, Lionsgate commissioned two Zippo designs and a 2009 calendar and sponsored a make-believe issue of trade magazine Advertising Age from the '60s, which includes stories related to the characters in the show. The 16-page section appeared in the June 23 issue of Ad Age.
Also, Bloomingdale's store windows in 14 markets, including New York, LA and Chicago, will be devoted to the series, as well as Mad Man shops selling clothing from the Theory label.
Later this summer, 30 Michael Kors stores will give the DVD free to customers who buy $350 of merchandise, which is tied to the fall Kord line that's inspired by the series.
