Cagney & Lacey
February 16, 2007

Ok, here's one for fans of '80s TV. Celebrating the show's 25th anniversary, MGM delivers Cagney & Lacey: Season One on May 8 (prebook April 11). The two-sided four-disc set ($39.98) includes 22 episodes.

But I'm a little disappointed at the extras: "Breaking the Laws of TV" part one and two featurettes. What! We couldn't get Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless to do a commentary or two? What about hearing from some of the women in the industry who were inspired by this show? (As the press release reminds us, Helen Mirren said "I'd like to thank, actually, Cagney & Lacey, who led the way..." in her 1996 Emmy speech. Of course, she's probably too busy promoting her Oscar nom for The Queen right now.)

The Cagney & Lacey press materials do offer up that "all living cast members" will be on hand for a media tour to promote the show's DVD debut.
