Raisin ripe for release

Based on the Tony award-winning Broadway play, A Raisin in the Sun is arriving to DVD May 6 (prebook April 3; $24.94) with a healthy dose of awareness. The film starring Sean Combs, Phylicia Rashad, Sanaa Lathan and John Stamos aired on ABC Feb. 25 and was the No. 1 program among women 18-49 and 25-54 and female teens. Raisin, which follows a family living in Chicago’s South Side during the ’50s, also was the first TV movie to screen at the Sundance Film Festival. Sony’s DVD will include commentary and a making-of featurette.
