Battlestar Galactica: Season One HD DVD
August 15, 2007
Wow, it's a good week for product announcements, and here's HD DVD news from Universal. As well putting Evan Almighty and Knocked Up on HD DVD, the studio is releasing the first season of brilliant Sci Fi Channel series Battlestar Galactica onto the high-def format.
The show bows Dec. 4 (prebook Oct. 30) in a six-disc set ($99.98) and includes the same special features that were on the original DVD version plus picture-in-picture behind-the-scenes and an Encyclopedia Galactica, "an interactive guide including ships, characters, colonies and flight training manual." Sounds fun.
The same day, Universal is planning to release Battlestar Galactica: Razor Unrated Director's Cut, a TV movie about the Pegasus before it found Galactica. It's due to air on Nov. 24, 10 days before the DVD bows ($26.98). And the movie will only be on DVD; no HD DVD yet.
But here's what will be in Universal's October HD DVD wave: Carlito's Way, Carlito's Way: Rise to Power, Inside Man and Seed of Chucky. All bow Oct. 23 (prebook Sept. 11) priced at $29.98 each.
