Flipper Season One
April 11, 2007
Just got the Flipper: Season One DVD from MGM in the mail. Dolphins are so cute.
The four-disc set will be in stores on April 24 (order now), but what's really cool is the DVD and press release came with a dolphin decorated card (of course) that says MGM has made "a generous donation" to the Marine Mammal Center in honor of the DVD and the series environmentally friendly story lines.
Call me a softie -- it's ok, I won't mind -- but I LOVE that.
The card says the Marine Mammal Center is "a nonprofit veterinary hospital, research and educational center dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitiation of ill and injured marine mammals." Here's the web site for the
Marine Mammal Center.
I applaud MGM in giving this donation. It doesn't matter how much the donation is, because the fact that their doing it also gives the center -- and cause -- added publicity. Too bad the studio didn't go the further step of adding a featurette about marine mammals on the discs. Instead there's a trivia quiz.
Studios are getting more environmentally friendly. Check out our story about
DVD packaging going green. It's a good start.
Now if only we can get the Bush administration to do the same.
