The new year will start in horror is Warner has anything to do with it. The studio will bow The Final Destination on DVD and Blu-ray on Jan. 5 (prebook Dec. 1).

The $67 million-grossing fourth movie  in the franchise will be priced at $28.98 on DVD and $35.99 on Blu-ray.

The Blu-ray will have 3D and 2D versions of the movie for a limited time and two pairs of 3D glasses packed in the box.

The Blu-ray also will have digital copy, as well as alternate endings, a "Body Count" featurette, pre-visualization/storyboard segments and BD Live access.

Both the Blu-ray and DVD will have deleted scenes.

Sony has lined up three more catalog titles for Blu-ray debut:

First up, Guy Ritchie's Snatch on Dec. 1 (order now; $28.95). The 2000 action comedy starring Benicio Del Toro, Brad Pitt and Jason Statham grossed $30 million.

Universal's post-apocalyptic animation 9 is being released on DVD and Blu-ray on Dec. 29. The DVD will be priced at $29.98 and Blu-ray at $39.98.

Here's a catalog title that's definitely worth upgrading to high-definition for.

Despite its action/sci-fi plot that tries to capitalize on the popularity of videogames, Gamer grossed $20.5 million in theaters. However, that same premise coupled with 300 heartthrob Gerard Butler starring out of the box is sure to be a boon for the movie on DVD and Blu-ray.

Paramount is following its pattern of releasing movies on DVD for rental-only first, a strategy the studio began with Dance Flick and Imagine That, with Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.
