Surprise box-office hit Paranormal Activity will be released on DVD and Blu-ray Dec. 29, just in time for consumers to buy it with the gift cards they got for Christmas.

Paramount's horror, which grossed $103.7 million in theaters, is making its home debut just 13 weeks after the movie began a limited theatrical run, and just nine weeks after it began a wide box-office release.

Both the DVD and two-disc Blu-ray will include both the theatrical version of the movie and an unrated version with an alternate ending that Paramount says is "shocking."

The two-DVD Blu-ray also includes a digital copy of the theatrical version.

The DVD will be priced at $29.99 and the Blu-ray at $40.99.

The $38 million-grossing sci fi thriller Surrogates will bow on DVD and Blu-ray Jan. 26 (prebook Dec. 15) from Disney.

Starring Bruce Willis amd based on the graphic novel by Robert Venditti and Brett Weldele, the movie is set in a world in which people can hideaway in their home while plugged into a robot surrogate that goes to world and does whatever their people controllers tell them. Naturally, there's a group who rebel against the technology.

So, we saw on Blu-ray.com that Michael Moore's latest movie, Capitalism: A Love Story, is coming to Blu-ray on Dec. 29. We went to the source, distributor Anchor Bay Entertainment, and said, "Give us the scoop!"

But it turns out there is no scoop. Moore's Capitalism won't be released on home video until "some time in 2010," according to the PR lady. We got an update: Spring 2010.

She promises to keep me in the posted on the release date, so I give that same promise to you.

The movie, about the Hulk on a distant planet ruled by a tyrannical Red King, will be priced at $19.98 for the single DVD, $24.98 for the two-DVD special edition and $29.99 for Blu-ray.

Special features include motion comics for Spider-Woman and X-Men, a Wolverine and X-Men episode, music videos and digital copy.

The Brothers Warner, a 2008 feature-length documentary on Harry, Albert, Sam and Jack Warner, the four legendary Hollywood siblings/pioneers who founded and ran Warner Bros. Studios for more than a half-century, will be released on DVD on March 9 (prebook Feb. 2) by, you guessed it, Warner. The film festival favorite (it’s played more than 30 fests around the world), which will be broadcast on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) on March 8, the day before it’s released on disc, will carry a suggested retail price of $19.95.

With a bunch of critical attention behind it, Sony's Moon will come rise on DVD and Blu-ray on Jan. 12 (prebook Dec. 10).

Starring Sam Rockwell, Moon earned $5 million in a limited theatrical release. The psychological sci-fi movie follows Rockewll as an astronaut who has been living and working on the moon with his only companion a computer voiced by Kevin Spacey. Rockwell is about to return to Earth when an accident happens that adds to Rockwell's growing paranoia.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs might not have huge names in its voicecast or Disney, Pixar or DreamWorks in its producing credits, but Sony's animated movie, based on a popular children's book, grossed $120 million at the box office. And I'll bet a bunch hamburgers, that it'll do very well when it hits DVD and Blu-ray on Jan. 5 too.

The new year will start in horror is Warner has anything to do with it. The studio will bow The Final Destination on DVD and Blu-ray on Jan. 5 (prebook Dec. 1).

The $67 million-grossing fourth movie  in the franchise will be priced at $28.98 on DVD and $35.99 on Blu-ray.

The Blu-ray will have 3D and 2D versions of the movie for a limited time and two pairs of 3D glasses packed in the box.

The Blu-ray also will have digital copy, as well as alternate endings, a "Body Count" featurette, pre-visualization/storyboard segments and BD Live access.

Both the Blu-ray and DVD will have deleted scenes.

Sony has lined up three more catalog titles for Blu-ray debut:

First up, Guy Ritchie's Snatch on Dec. 1 (order now; $28.95). The 2000 action comedy starring Benicio Del Toro, Brad Pitt and Jason Statham grossed $30 million.
