MTI releases R-rated version of adult sequel

Follows same pattern for original Pirates movie

By Laurence Lerman -- Video Business, 10/2/2008

OCT. 2 | MTI Home Video signed a deal with adult studio Digital Playground to issue an R-rated version of Digital Playground’s just-released adult feature Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge, a sequel to the award-winning 2005 adult hit Pirates.

The move is a replay of MTI’s release of an R-rated version of the original Pirates in 2006, which “performed exceptionally well,” according to an MTI spokesman.

The R-rated Pirates II is tentatively scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2009, along with the Blu-ray Disc premiere of the R-rated Pirates.

According to MTI, the company’s release of the original Pirates was the first time in the history of the home entertainment business that an erotic adult film was re-edited into a feature film and certified with an R rating by the Motion Picture Assn. of America.

Pirates II stars Digital Playground contract starlets Jesse Jane, Shay Jordan and Katsuni and, like its predecessor, is written and directed by Joone.
