News Corp. profits up 11%
FROM VARIETY: Ice Age sequel, cable TV boost third-quarter figures

NOV. 4 | FROM VARIETY: News Corp. profits rose 11% to $571 million last quarter as strength in cable, film and book publishing offset declines in the broadcast television and newspaper businesses.Revenue dipped 4% to about $7.2 billion.
Buoyed by cost cutting and a strong slate of movies including “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs,” filmed entertainment income rose to $391 million for the fiscal first quarter ended Sept. 30, from $251 million the year before.
