> Low-key character drama that won at Cannes.
Turkish filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan (Climates) returns with a somber, minimalist character study. The plot revolves around a chauffeur (Yavuz Bingol) who takes responsibility for a car accident caused by his boss, a politician (Ercan Kesal). Ceylan approaches his melodramatic subject matter in a naturalistic fashion, spotlighting the intense performances of his leads.
Shelf Talk: Ceylan won Best Director for this film at the 2008 Cannes festival. This fact and the film’s positive reviews will attract arthouse mavens to the title.
