JUNE 3 | INDIE FILM GUIDE: BFS Entertainment & Multimedia Limited will release four documentaries this summer from the National Film Board of Canada. The films cover elements of history and world events that have affected both Americans and Canadians.
Passage (DVD $19.98) uncovers what happened to British explorer Sir John Franklin, who in 1845 undertook a doomed search for the fabled Northwest Passage.

Canadian doc Passage will street on July 7.
The Peacekeepers (DVD $19.98) looks at the United Nations’ efforts to bring peace to the so-called Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Shining Mountains (DVD $29.98) takes a journey through the Rocky Mountains and reflects on how the area has affected various people.
War of 1812 (DVD $29.98) examines the war between the U.S. and Great Britain that confirmed the creation of Canada but ended hopes for an independent Native nation.
BFS is distributing all four films in the U.S. Street date is July 7 (prebook now).
Ironically, although the films are from Canada and BFS is based there, the company only has rights in Canada to one of the films, The Peacekeepers. However, Canadian consumers will be likely to find the other three films on other labels.
