The studio said the exec is ankling to pursue other opportunities, and Par has no current plans to fill the post.
The home video arm's senior executives now report directly to Rob Moore, vice chairman of Paramount Pictures. Avery had reported to Moore since 2006.
In a statement, Avery called her tenure at Par "rewarding and satisfying."
A Paramount spokeswoman declined to comment further about Avery's exit.
But beyond a change in reporting structure, it appears that Avery's departure should not impact other top executive roles. Kelly Sooter and Mary Kincaid, who had worked for Avery as executive VP/general manager of worldwide marketing and executive VP of worldwide marketing services, respectively at Paramount Home Entertainment, are now serving in the same capacity under Moore.
Similarly, Paramount Home Entertainment's president of international Dennis Maguire will remain in that position, but shifting to answering to Moore from Avery.
Among those completely unchanged are senior VP brand marketing Bob Buchi and senior VP worldwide creative Michelle Bell, who stay reporting to Sooter.
Avery joined Par in 2006, after having spent eight years at DreamWorks, which proved beneficial as she oversaw the integration of both studios' homevid divisions.
Before DreamWorks, Avery had worked in homevid at the Mouse House for 12 years.
At Par, Avery oversaw the ramp-up of Par's high-definition disc business, as well as DVD releases for not only Paramount but also Par Vantage, DreamWorks Animation, MTV, Nickelodeon and Viacom properties including CBS and Comedy Central.
