> Simple, powerful film about a woman and her dog.
In this low-budget indie from director Kelly Reichardt (Old Joy), Michelle Williams (Synecdoche, New York) stars as Wendy, a woman traveling to Alaska with her dog, Lucy, in search of work. When her car breaks down and Lucy goes missing, Wendy reluctantly accepts the help of strangers, including a kindly security guard (Wally Dalton). Though simple in plot, Wendy and Lucy explores such themes as isolation and desperation in a very realistic way.
Shelf Talk: One of the best reviewed films of last year, Wendy and Lucy landed on more than 65 year-end Top 10 lists but was little seen beyond the film-festival circuit. Expect interest among the arthouse crowd.
