MARCH 9 | The first chance to see Angels & Demons will be on the April 28 Blu-ray Disc release of The Da Vinci Code, about two weeks before the literary sequel bows in theaters on May 15.
Distributor Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is including a five-minute scene from Angel & Demons exclusively on The Da Vinci Code: Extended Cut Blu-ray title. Ron Howard, helmer for both of the Tom Hanks-starring films, introduces the Angels & Demons sneak peek.
Realizing the importance of supporting Blu-ray, Sony's DVD and theatrical units collaborated to encourage Howard's participation in the exclusive Angels & Demons scene.
"Blu-ray is the perfect medium to showcase this compelling scene in full high definition and this is just one more example of how Blu-ray delivers the most valuable entertainment experience," said Lexine Wong, Sony Home Entertainment, senior executive VP worldwide marketing.
Also, Sony will pack in 28 minutes of new Da Vinci Code footage into the Blu-ray release, priced at $38.96.
Da Vinci Code: Extended Cut will include access to $10 in movie cash toward Angels & Demons theatrical tickets and a Web-enabled feature dubbed ‘Cinechat,’ in which fans can chat to their friends while watching the movie together on broadband-connected Blu-ray players.
