> Intimate performances by big names in indie rock.
In this IFC music series, the buzzworthy musicians in the indie rock music scene are seen performing on a small set. There’s no host or dialog here, so the title really does enforce the series’ premise: “Put the music first.” Thus, those who are unfamiliar with any of the featured artists will have to research on their own. For in-the-know music fans, however, this is a worthwhile title to check out.
Shelf Talk: There’s already a built-in audience for From the Basement, especially for such well-known bands as the White Stripes and Radiohead, who recently won a Grammy for Best Alternative Album. For retailers who also sell music, it’s a good idea to stock From the Basement near the featured artists’ albums.
Concert, color, NR (nothing offensive), 129 min., DVD $14.98
