JAN. 27 | Comcast has launched a new video-on-demand service, Disney Family Movies, offering unlimited access to George of the Jungle and The Parent Trap, among other films, for a $5.99 monthly fee.
The service, now available to all Comcast digital cable customers, plans to offer 20 hours of content each month, currently spanning 10 Disney feature films and two short-form programs. Featured titles, also including Eloise at the Plaza and Treasure Planet, will remain in rotation for one month. New titles will be added to the Disney Family Movies service on a weekly basis.
“For just $5.99 a month, we’re offering unlimited viewing of 10 classic Disney movies whenever you want,” said Derek Harrar, senior VP and general manager of video services for Comcast. “Kids’ and family programming continues to be one of our top ‘On Demand’ categories, and we are thrilled to continue delivering the best quality content with Disney.”
Dan Cohen, executive VP of pay TV and new media at Disney-ABC Domestic Television, added, “The addition of this one-of-a-kind, family-friendly service is a wonderful complement to the company’s video-on-demand initiatives.”
