Tweeter re-opens three Connecticut stores

FROM TWICE: Customers allowed to pick up previously purchased merchadise

By Alan Wolf of TWICE -- Video Business, 12/29/2008

DEC. 29 | FROM TWICE: Three Connecticut Tweeter stores are briefly reopening to allow customers to pick up previously purchased merchandise.

The stores, located in Avon, Newington and Manchester, were to each reopen for one day only for a period of two hours starting yesterday and ending tomorrow. The re-openings were arranged by State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who intervened in federal bankruptcy court on behalf of Connecticut consumers.

Shoppers’ fire-sale purchases were locked down after Tweeter suddenly shut all of its stores last month prior to its Chapter 7 filing. All remaining inventory is being sent to an Atlanta warehouse where liquidator Apto Solutions is supposed to sort out previously purchased goods for shipment to customers and sell off the rest.
