Our Daily Bread DVD goes behind the scenes of food production

By Wendy Wilson -- Video Business, 12/8/2008

Dec. 8 | Our Daily Bread, the 2006 documentary about the business of big agriculture, comes to DVD Jan. 13 (prebook Dec 9).
A veteran of the film festival circuit, Our Daily Bread looks behind the scenes at various aspects of industrial food production—including animal husbandry and food processing—to show how mechanized that process has become. Without interviews or commentary, scenes of chickens, pigs and cows cut up for meat on conveyer systems or footage of machines harvesting fields of sunflowers demonstrate how removed humans are from what they eat.
Bonus features include a behind-the-scenes photo gallery and an interview with director Nikolaus Geyrhalter.
An Icarus Films Home Video release, Our Daily Bread carries a suggested retail price of $29.98.
