Earlier, Wolfe Releasing announced the acquisition of two popular films from the summer festival circuit.
Were the World Mine, directed by Tom Gustafson, is a musical about a struggling gay teenager set against the backdrop of his high school play, A Mid Summer Night’s Dream. The film’s first festival win was the Audience Award for Best Film at the Florida Film Festival.
The New Twenty, directed by Chris Mason Johnson, is about a diverse group of friends in New York City, for which Nicole Bilderback won the best actress award at Outfest.
Each of the two films is getting a theatrical release, and Wolfe will give them a simultaneous DVD and VOD release on dates that haven’t been announced yet. Were the World Mine is self-distributed theatrically by Speak Productions.
MTV will have the worldwide TV premiere for the titles on its Logo channel for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender films.
