> Wanted’s action is kicked into high gear in Blu-ray.
Curving bullets pop off the screen and explode out of the speakers in Universal’s Blu-ray version of Wanted. The clear picture and pounding sound enhances the high-paced action of the graphic novel adaptation. And the sharpness of the tattoos running down Angelina Jolie’s naked back will have fanboys rewinding. For movie lovers, the disc contains six making-of featurettes (ending with cheat codes for the Wanted videogame) that include extensive interviews with actors James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman and Jolie, among others, director Timur Bekmambetov, various crew members and the author of the original graphic novel. The Blu-ray version has plenty of exclusives: an alternate opening in a comic-book style; U-Control picture-in-picture options, with profiles of the assassins and Motion Comics comparing the graphic novel to the movie; and chat and personal commentary ability with BD Live.
Shelf Talk: Action movies are a no-brainer for the early adopter Blu-ray fan, and Wanted provides plenty of it. With its box office and stars, the movie should sell well, and Universal has wisely given its high-def version some exclusive features and a price that’s only $5 more than the two-DVD offering.
